UW-Platteville s Joel Walden and Matt Smaga competed in the 3,000-meter run on Friday night at the Leonard Squig” Converse Invitational in Whitewater.

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men and women s track and field team had a strong showing at the Pioneer Open on Jan. 31 in Williams Fieldhouse.

UW-Platteville's Garrett Riggs and Amber Williams were both named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Field Athlete of Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

The Pioneers performed well against their WIAC opponents at the Pointer Tri-Meet on Saturday Jan. 24.

Amber Williams continued where she left off from her freshman year by setting a new indoor school long jump record at the UW-Platteville Open on Saturday.

Pioneer women's track and field team ranked 15th, while the men's team ranks 22nd in the preseason USTFCCCA rankings.
